Holy Yoga

Wait, what? Can those two words really show up in the same sentence?  You may think that yoga is a form of an Eastern religious practice. You may also think that because these body postures originated as a form of worship to other gods, Christians shouldn’t participate.  That’s ok, I think every religion actually bows their heads and also their bodies when they pray and, as Christians, we don’t think there is anything wrong with this.  It is about the heart and mindset.  When we hold our bodies in a hard place or posture and we call upon the holy spirit in our heart to help settle our mind in the pose, actually finding peace and rest in it, this becomes a place of worship and intercession between you and the Lord! God sees your heart and knows who you are directing your mindset toward. Not only can yoga be a physical act of worship (remember when David danced unto the Lord in worship), it can provide so many health and wellness benefits.

As a long-term yoga participant for my own management of health, wellness and spirituality/worship/devotion, and, after referring my clients for the same especially due to the therapeutic value when suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma and/or grief or loss, I looked for a certification program that embodies the right balance of all of these.  The Holy Yoga organization does an excellent job at integrating all of the elements in a God-honoring way. I went through the 225 hour certification process to become a registered Holy Yoga Instructor (R-HYI). I would like to invite you to join a weekly online zoom Holy Yoga practice with me which includes a yoga practice, devotional and all the other elements of a yoga community.

Would you like to:

  • connect in a physical exercise while incorporating Christian devotion and worship

  • have weekly accountability from the comfort of your own home

  • join other Christian like-minded women engaging in holistic mind, body, and soul practices
